Ancient Indian literature is an important form of science, in which the contribution of Maharishi Sushrut is very important. Maharishi Sushrut, also known as the 'Father of Surgery', was one of the oldest medical scholars in the world who did great work in the field of medicine and surgery in his time.

Maharishi Sushrut made great contributions to various branches of medicine in his works. Many safe and successful surgical treatments performed by him are considered very important even today.

Maharishi Sushrut developed various types of surgeries for the treatment of internally and externally occurring diseases. His unique herbs like Sanjivani Booti were also used in the treatment of various diseases.

In "Sushrut Samhita", Acharya Sushruta discussed the Chira Puranjan method, in which he described many types of safe and effective surgeries for the treatment of internal diseases. In his book he also describes the design and use of over 300 surgical instruments.

Acharya Sushrut's contribution was not limited to medicine only, he also gave his teachings in various fields like chemistry, physics, astrology, yoga, etc. For this, he has been honored as the 'Father of Indian Medical Sciences'.

Maharshi Sushrut's book 'Sushruta Samhita' is an important source in which the principles of various medical sciences, their use, and experience have been discussed, through which today's modern science is moving towards development.

The contribution of Maharishi Sushrut is very important in culture and medicine. To clarify his abstract knowledge in many teachings and sutra codes given by him in the field of surgery, we will present a special example from his 'Sushrut Samhita'.

A unique description of surgeries is found in Sushrut Samhita. He has said this regarding the Chira Puranjan method:

(Sushruta Samhita, Chikitsa Sthan, 5.4)

यत्र यत्र शरीरस्थो रुजां ग्रामस्थ वा वयः।

तत्र तत्र शल्यकरो गृहीत्वा चोपशोधयेत्।।

 

Meaning:

Through this verse, Maharshi Sushrut is saying that wherever there is a disease in the body, surgeons should be called there and the patient should be treated. This makes successful treatment of various diseases and is possible through surgery.

Maharshi Sushruta has discussed many types of surgeries in the field of medicine, in which he has described in detail the types of surgeries like Krishnavarna (black) granthika, Pulka, Vishvabhedak, Vidurak, Vartulak, etc.

The contribution of Maharishi Sushrut is also very important in modern medical science because his surgeries are still a source of inspiration for doctors around the world and only through his knowledge, we can and were able to achieve the heights of science. Maharishi Sushrut has been a unique pioneer and contributor to the medical sciences.

He established various types of surgeries, including anti-inflammation, cesarean section, and hematemesis. His scientific surgical style provided a new direction in the medical field and made him the 'Father of Surgery'.

The superiority of Maharshi Sushrut is indescribable. He is the father of medical science who first introduced surgery to today's modern science. With his excellent surgical knowledge, he is the only scientist who has given the world more than 200 surgical procedures and methods and around 300 methods of manufacturing surgical instruments. In his Sushrut Samhita, he has very skillfully explained the methods of dental health and dental surgery, cataract treatment, plastic surgery, cesarean, and the most complex brain surgery, and many other surgeries, which are useful and gives inspiration to modern medical science even today.
