Father of Atomic Theory and Physics
Philosophy: Experience of inner vision
Acharya Kanaad, known as a great mathematician and philosopher in Indian Philosophy, who has taken Indian science and philosophy to a new level with his contributions.
Acharya Kanaad's major contribution is in his treatise 'Vaisheshik Sutra', which discusses the analysis of the position and properties of atoms through direct and inferential evidence. Apart from this, Acharya Kanaad also shared his views especially on subjects like Advait Vedant, Nyay, Vaisheshik, Mimamsa, Sankhya Yog, etc.
There are some verses in 'Vaisheshik Sutra', which prove the generous knowledge of Acharya Kanaad.
One such verse is :
अणुपरमाणूच्यम् त्रसरूपकं तत्तदवयवयोगजं नाम द्रव्यम्।
तस्य संयोगजवत्वादवयवत्वाच्च सत्त्वमात्रं सत्याम्।
अणवत्त्वादवयवत्वाच्च। तस्य संयोगजवत्वाच्च।
तस्य संयोगजवत्वादवयवत्वाच्च सत्त्वमात्रं सत्याम्।
Its English translation is:
The relationship of atoms and molecules in the substance is called matter. Its existence is only in combination of components, it has only the form of existence. It is because of the existence of molecules and their combinations that matter exists.
Description:
In this sutra it is considered that the substance made up of molecules and atoms with their combinations, 'matter' is formed. It’s existence lies in the combinations of its components. This sutra has clearly stated that the existence of matter depends on its parts and their combinations.
The influence of Acharya Kanaad's texts and principles is important even in today's era. His explanations and theories have continued to influence modern physics and science. His philosophy allowed amazing analysis of atoms, from which modern physics has taken new directions.
Acharya Kanaad's contribution shows us how much excellence our Indian culture had in the field of science, mathematics and philosophy, which has also inspired the modern era.
The heart fills with joy while narrating the contribution of Maharshi Kanaad. Acharya Kanaad is the first scientist in this world to reveal the secret of gravity along with the atomic theory. Thousands of years before Sir Isaac Newton, he had revealed the three laws of motion and gravity in his "Vaisheshik Sutra”. He was an indescribable expert in physics. Today's science is successful on the principles and rules given by him. Our heartfelt tribute to such a great philosopher, scholar, and scientist.
